Homemade Window Cleaner that Really Works
Windows are in the front of your house. That’s why they get dirty so fast. Dirt and grime accumulate on them, and when you try to clean it off with a rag, it smears and leaves streaks. You can buy expensive cleaners at the store, but if you want something that really works for dirt or grime without costing an arm and a leg (or two), then this article on homemade window cleaner is for you!
All you need is white vinegar, water, newspaper, and a spray bottle. To make the cleaner, mix 1/8 cup vinegar with 1/2 cup water in a spray bottle. Then, add 4 sheets of newspaper that have been cut into quarters. Finally, add 3 tablespoons of dish soap and 2 cups of hot water to a glass measuring cup. Stir everything together until the dish soap has dissolved, then pour the mixture into the spray bottle.
Now, spray the mixture onto the windows and wipe with a piece of newspaper. You’ll see that the dirt and grime disappear and your windows are streak free! The vinegar helps to cut through the grease and dirt, while the water helps to rinse it away. Soap is also important because it acts as a surfactant, meaning that it helps to reduce the surface tension of the water and enables it to better wet the dirt and grime. Finally, using hot water helps to loosen up the dirt so that it can be easily wiped away.
